We distribute food to clients who are referred by one of our over 200 contracting agencies. If you can not identify one of our agencies call our office and we will attempt to align you with an agency:
What to do if you are in need of food assistance for you or your family:
- Check with your local church, the school your child attends, or government agency you receive aid from (i.e. Kern Co. Human Services, local Bakersfield Social Security office). Ask if they make referrals to the Gleaners. If so they will give you instructions on how to get a food order.
- If you do not have a relationship with a referring agency call our office for assistance or consider “Volunteering for Food” by working one day in our warehouse for a food order. See the volunteer section of this site for details.
- If you are a Kern County, low-income senior in need of food assistance see the Senior Sack section of this website for how to register at one of our 24 distribution sites.
